Race 1 - Haddington

7th June

Meeting and registration by the golf course gates with the race starting at 7pm  since this is the first race of the series, please arrive in plenty time to register and have a bit of a blether.

A nice, mainly-flat course with a few twists and turns.

Race 2 - Dunbar - Details.

The next race is at Dunbar on 23rd June.
The race route and start/end point is shown on the attached map. This route is about 7.5k.

Runners can either meet at Hallhill Healthy Living centre and then make their way to the start from there (just over a mile warm up). OR meet at the start.
The race will start at 7:00pm with registration from 6:30

If you've already registered then please remember to bring your number with you.

There will be sandwiches etc at Hallhill after the race.

Race 6 - Dunbar

The sixth and final run in the series!  Meet near the toilet / shower block at The John Muir Country Park, Dunbar.

This is a lovely, fairly flat, two-lap route run entirely off road around and through the woods behind East Links Family Park.  While not essential, trail shoes are recommended.

Showers are available but they're cold so only for the hardy!

Remember, there's a barbecue afterwards so bring a sausage and liquid refreshment.

Race 5 - Musselburgh

Tuesday 18th August Musselburgh, Fisherrow Yacht Club, 97 New St. just along from the harbour. The yacht club has changing rooms, showers and a bar and food will be provided by Musselburgh & District Athletic Club - Running Club. Only register if you've not run an ELSS this year. Route is 3.6 miles.

This was the first running of the brand new Portobello leg of the series on a fine, sunny evening. We're delighted to have Portobello Running Club on board who made us all feel very welcome. Thanks for everyone for taking part.

Another record number of runners finished the Longniddry leg of the series.  Once again the weather ws kind to us and and there was nice food laid on by Haddington and Musselburgh.

A record 66 runners finished the Haddington leg of the series on a blustery summer evening. There were a lot of smiling faces at the finish line with a few clearly delighted with thier times. Thanks to Haddington and the rest of the crew for organising this and for the great food afterwards.

Race 2 - Longniddry

33 runners took part in the Dunbar leg of the series on a yet another fabulous summer evening. How lucky have been with the weather this year? The course was the only "double-lapper" in beautiful surroundings. Thanks to Dunbar and the rest of the crew for organising this and for the great food afterwards.

We believe that Stuart Hay managed to organise a great sunset while Jacqueline Slimon was responsible for the moon as we ate our sausages! ;¬) Here  you go

This "bonus" leg was organised by Edinburgh Athletic Club and we're including this so as many people as possible can have a "best three from five" result at the end of the season.

This is the "Bonus race" which is actually organised by Edinburgh Athletic Club.  We'll just take the position you came in the race and apply it to your position out of the listed series runners.  So, if you came 100th overall but you were the 10th out of the registered runners you'll get 10th in the series for that leg.  Simples!

MUSSELBURGH - RESULTS

At last! The weather actually made the race look like a "summer" series race.
Nice warm night in Musselburgh for the penultimate race. And good to see so many other people out enjoying weather and getting into the "sporting vibe" the nation seems to be going through right now.
Nice to get cheered on by the lads of Musselburgh Windsor during the race, then the sight of a bloke on a Penny Farthing, cycling round the Grove must be one of the strangest manifestations of the Wiggo effect that any ones seen yet!!

Remember the last race in the series next week at John Muir country park. Followed by the traditional BBQ and prize giving!

RACE 2 RESULTS.

Race two took in the "undulating" roads in and around Spott and Little Spott, just outside Dunbar.
Conditions were, perhaps, a little warm for some peoples liking, but some good times were posted.

RACE 1 - RESULTS

Not a bad turn out for the first race.
A nice flat course - though with a few twists and turns, and mud added to make it "interesting". Thanks to HELP for laying on the race.
Most people seem to prefer the "straight race" format rather than the handicap, but please feel free to let us know what you think.

As well as category prizes at the end of the series, we also plan to keep track of everyone's mile pace for each leg they complete and might decide that constant improvement merits reward as well.

The next leg is at Dunbar on Tuesday 19th June. We will post a map, showing the location of the start soon. There will be showering and changing available at Hallhill Healthy Living Centre.
